About this site
K Star Archive is an independent biography site that documents the careers and work of Korean stars based on publicly available sources. We follow each person’s career from the beginning to the present and try to find and tell the story that is uniquely theirs. Every biography is written first in Korean and offered in 14 languages.
An independent record
This site is an independent record with no connection to the artists, their agencies, broadcasters, record labels or anyone else involved. We receive no sponsorship from them and they do not review our work. The interpretations and summaries in each biography are our own responsibility.
Editorial principles
What we write, and what we don’t
- We cover only facts officially confirmed by the artists themselves or their agencies. We do not cover rumors, speculation or stories that appear only in media reports.
- Matters close to private life, such as relationships, marriage, family and health, are mentioned briefly and only when they have been officially confirmed and relate to the artist’s work.
- For controversies and disputes, we state only what happened, the official positions of each side and the outcome. Matters that ended at the allegation stage are clearly described as allegations, and we update the biography when an outcome is reached.
- Sentences that involve interpretation are written so that they read as interpretation, not as fact. Where the artist has not spoken on a subject, we do not speculate about their feelings or motives.
How we check facts
- We look first to official sources: agency announcements, the artist’s official social media and official profiles.
- Where no official source exists, we include a fact only when at least two major, independent news outlets agree. Articles that repeat the same press release count as one source.
- For chart positions and sales, we follow official chart providers such as Circle Chart and Billboard.
- Dates and figures, statements about controversies and quotations are numbered in the text and linked to the source list at the end of each biography.
When we update
- We update a biography promptly after major events such as a comeback, a departure from a group, enlistment or discharge, an award or the outcome of a legal case.
- All other biographies are reviewed once a year.
- Each biography shows the date it was last updated.
Images and quotations
- We do not use photos from agencies or news organizations. Images in our biographies are graphics we create ourselves. When we use photos that are free to use, we credit the source and state the terms of use.
- We do not use AI-generated images of people.
- Interviews and broadcast remarks are quoted directly only up to one sentence, with the outlet and date.
- We do not quote song lyrics. We describe a song’s theme and meaning in our own words.
About translations
- Every biography is based on the Korean original.
- When remarks originally made in Korean are quoted in other language editions, they are translated into that language. We note this once here rather than marking each quotation.
- All language editions use the same sources as the Korean original. Source titles are translated into each language, with the original language of the article noted.
Corrections and removal requests
- If you find anything inaccurate, please let us know through our Corrections page. Including supporting sources helps us check more quickly.
- Official requests from artists, agencies or their legal representatives are received by email at corrections@kstararchive.com.
- Facts close to private life (relationships, marriage, family, health) will be removed at the request of the artist or their agency.
- Facts central to an artist’s career, such as a debut, a departure, a hiatus or the outcome of a legal case, are not removed. Instead, we revise the wording to be more neutral.
